Mary is showcasing her mum’s Kie – a Kie is a special finely woven mat that is the most important item of cultural value. In Tongan tradition family members wear these mats for special ceremonies and Mary’s mum wore this on her wedding day. The decorative red feathers were originally from Samoan or Fijian collared lory birds called “sega” but more modern examples use dyed chicken feathers. I love it when we incorporate tradition in studio!
I loved spending every minute with Losaline and her gorgeous family – DADDY…this one is for YOU! Everyone misses you x
